Melissa Chambers is a Theatre Artist from Australia, based in London
She has worked for theatre companies in Australia, New York City and Europe.
In New York between 2008 and 2014 she was a member of The International WOW Company and is an asscociate artist of Immediate Medium. She has worked in new writing development in NYC with Rattlestick Playwright's Theatre, Ontological Hysteric, New Dramatists and the Lark, and was on the literary board of The Play Company from 2011-12.
Her work as a Director has played at The Living Theatre, and Rattlestick Playwright's Theatre, New York, Het Feinhout, Amsterdam, Porsgrunn International Theatre Festival, Norway, and The Rock Surfers Theatre Company, Sydney. In 2014 she was an artist in residence at The Freight Project, NY.
In the UK Melissa has performed with Awake Projects (UK/Sweden) in the Edinburgh Festival, and has devised original work with students at East 15 in London. In Australia she has worked as an Actor for The Melbourne Theatre Company, Hothouse Theatre and Red Stitch Actors Theatre.
She holds a BA in Acting from the Victorian College of the Arts, Melbourne, and a Masters degree in Performance Practice and Research from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London where she was the recipient of the Embassy Scholarship.
She is supported by the Australian American Association, the Polish Cultural Institute NYC, The Ian Potter Cultural Trust and is a Glorias Foundation Fellow.
